I want to create a simple installer for a certain dbms vendor's "instant" client. But with the tools I have and understand Visual Studio Pro , these actions cannot be configured.
So I figured I might fiddle a little in the resulting installer file using orca. This I have installed completely all components selected , and as far as I am able to determine, it does not include the Orca MSI Editor.
I've posted to my blog today about where to find Orca; sorry for not making it easier to find. Ask a question. Quick access.

This starts the installation wizard for the SDK itself. Now you can edit which SDK features are installed. Improve this answer. Thanks for the detailed steps. I had already found the right installer and installed the right component, but the documentation was trash and didn't say where to find that msi.
It was right where you said it would be! Show 1 more comment. Current one is Mount it with Explorer and open the directory Installers. Mamoru Satoh Mamoru Satoh 2, 21 21 silver badges 23 23 bronze badges. Thanks for the confirmation that the tool is in the modern SDK and has changed name.
I've accepted your answer because it does literally answer the questions I posed. But I've written a how-to which is probably a more convenient way for Visual Studio users to actually install Orca, as a separate answer. Your information was key, though. The mentioned answer is tedious and not really required.
Select "MSI Tools" from installer and install it. Matt Matt Quick access. Search related threads. Remove From My Forums. Asked by:. Archived Forums. Sign in to vote. Thank you for your help.
